The Monkey Hangers

Another piece produced for a competition set by The Northern School of Art, the brief to illustrate the story of the Monkey Hangers of Hartlepool.

My slightly jovial image of this poor monkey, dressed in his French uniform is central to the image, with the barracking, mast crowds baying for his head visualised all around him. Set around an image of this old towns harbour, with the monkey, the poor victim, guilty of ‘nowt.

Produced in what is becoming my house style, of a limited colour palette. Was very happy with the image, but unfortunately un-succesful this time.
